Make Your Living

You have a passion to create a better world - for yourself and others, but there is crippling circumstances that continuously hold you back:

  • Not enough time outside of work

  • Not qualified to enter the field I want

  • Not enough money in the pocket

Finding yourself unable to get ahead (let alone, keeping up with increasing price margins), can be hard, if not impossible. Does it have to be so? I believe there is simple no choice but to create opportunities to offset the growing pressure from today's bloated markets.

Poverty is at relatively low levels, yet on the rise once again. However, this does reflect the quality of life for the vast majority of Canadians - indeed, people around the world.

Take for instance, this chart which reflects the average income around the world. Notice the sharp drop off as soon as salaries are calculated outside of Western countries. Mind you, these greater salaries may be slightly negated with greater prices of living, with Australia having high salaries, yet one of the most expensive place to live. The US is comparable in living expenses, yet they have lower incomes. With 1/10th the population of the US, Australias figures could be all the more misleading.

Now, this is not a hit-piece on Western economics, but rather, our outlook on what makes people "successful." I believe our virtual addiction to money and how you can squirrel away is a greater problem than simply not having enough of the pie.

The belief that if we toss more money into the mix may be faulty. Sure, its works pretty good with the Fortune 500, but with only so many seats at the tables of those markets, we ought to look toward each to build out enterprise for ourselves.

What would this look like? How would we accrue the skills necessary to expand the value needed to sustain comfortable livings? Is it possible to get disparate groups together in order to make this future? Sure, it would take immense amount of cooperation and coordination, not to mention trust in the other standing next to you, but I've concluded that there is large amounts of untapped potential all around us - we simply need to tap into it.

Your wealth evaporates into the ether. You may be pacifying your discontent with society in idle entertainment and quick hits of dopamine. From working-for-the-weekend, to working for the chance to get home as soon as possible to eat discounted ice cream and a binge of streaming television.

The man-hours solely used up in watching our phones can be utilized toward more meaningful endeavours. Such as:

Fruitful Endeavours:

  1. Learning New Skills

  2. Improving Mental & Physical Health

  3. Securing Food Security

  4. Acquiring Real Estate

  5. Taking Stock of Current Finances

This goes a bit beyond creating a "side hustle," in that, we are striving for robust social networks that transcend regional boundaries, while maintaining the autonomous integrity of said regions. Much like a city-state, yet the common factor which we will focus is the individual which inhabit these cities: they must have what it takes to truly bring values to the table.

Many iterations of social and political arrangements have been experimented with over the centuries. From the church being the bulwark of chaos to legislation that holds everyone accountable to laws and code ratified by elected officials.

There is no question that advancements have been made in science, medicine, economics, comprehension of the universe as a whole, yet it seems like, as individuals - we have stagnated.

Toxic food and inclinations toward the consumption of idle entertainment has taken over our lives. When it comes to social comments, we often use references suggested to us by tropes we often find in the media we consume. Original thoughts and ability to synthesize opinions, stand by our dispositions, they all seem to be impacted.

Ask yourself whether or being told what to think and do for you entire life may result in you feeling fulfilled?

What Shall We Do...?

This will not be the first time we have contemplated how to conduct ourselves in more meaningful ways and it won't be the last, but this will be our venture.

The ultimate goal will be to have more autonomy - more agency.

As noted, the problems facing todays and future generations are myriad. With unfavourable economic situations, food and entertainment which merely gives us the impression that our needs are met, and a cultural environment which does not encourage novel ways of living out our lives, perhaps as much as it should, then you have quite a hill to overcome.

Then, there are those that may argue that everything is fine as it is, that we live in the most healthy, prosperous time ever facing humanity. Although, the numbers within this group may be not as all-consuming as we may think - for the vast majority may tell you that we're not in a good situatio w and propose how you would to see them overcome. At, DiscursiveStudios, we will try to provide the service necessary to solve those issues.

So, what would you like to see happen; what problems do you face? Think of the pains which come into your life nu.e in it for the long run: living the best life we can, for as long as we can - you have everything you need, you may need just a little push in the right direction.
